About L. E. Scott

African American jazz poet L. E. Scott was born in Cordele, Georgia (USA). He has lived and travelled in many parts of the world since leaving the USA – Africa, Europe, Asia, Central America and Australasia. His home base now is Aotearoa/New Zealand.

Scott defines his work as jazz blues and he is constantly experimenting with the sounds and cadences of the spoken word of the Black Church, which underpins the essence of his writing. His work has been published in magazines such as Essence, The Black Scholar, Obsidian, and Chelsea and in a wide range of other publications around the world. He has had more than fifteen books of poetry and prose published and has edited a number of anthologies. His work has also been published by Third World Press (Chicago, USA).
